A bar of metal that fixes rigidly in place in mid-air at the press of a button, and releases at another press. The crew first saw it doing duty as a coat hook in Chazlauth's home — he pulled a cloak off it, revealing the bar hanging in empty air, then dropped it into his hand and demonstrated by failing to do a pull-up on it.

Traded to the crew in exchange for the blue-steel thieves' tools, which Chazlauth wanted purely because they looked magnificent. He had offered a hundred-and-something gold — roughly ten times the price of an ordinary set — and the crew asked for an item instead, reasoning that keeping a well-disposed dragon expert happy is worth more than coin.
